FUNDING SECURED FROM INVESTING IN CANADA INFRASTRUCTURE (ICIP) FOR ABBEY’S WATER TREATMENT PLANT UPGRADES
The Village of Abbey is thrilled to announce that funding has been secured for our 2024/25 WTP Project under the Investing in Canada Infrastructure (ICIP) to assist with the eligible costs to incorporate greensand filtration to reduce the amount of iron and manganese to acceptable levels and ultraviolet (UV) light as the source of primary disinfection. The project will be funded in part by the Government of Canada ($276,000), the Government of Saskatchewan ($229,977) and the Village of Abbey ($184,023).
Additionally, the upgrades include a building expansion, distribution system, electrical work, and the installation of a new electrical generator to enhance system reliability. After these upgrades, the water treatment process will be producing drinking water that meets all current provincial water quality standards.
Safe and reliable drinking water is essential for our residents and businesses to grow and prosper!
